Trashmails

You need a mailadress, but you do not want to use your proper mailaccount?
There are some providers that give you the chance to set a mailadress without any registration, but give you the possibility to read the mails that are send to this adress. You can use this for the registration of nearly everything.
This is the provider I use. It has no advertising, is easy to set up and you can check your mails in a second.
You can find tons of other sites like this, but this is the one I use and say that it is good because I know it.

Substitute for Skype

Another tip:
Use an indie-version of Skype. Since it belongs to Microsoft it is not a program which I want to use to communicate with friends or colleagues.
There are different programs which have no advertising and most of them are Open Source and Freeware.
Jitsi is one of these programs and has nearly the same scope that Skype provides you.

Tor

There is also the Tor Project.
I do not want to describe it properly here, but it is something like a proxy.
Here you can learn more about it:
 Tor Project

And if you use a smartphone with Android OS you can find their App here:
Orbot

General Use

Something more general:
Use a browser like Mozilla Firefox or Opera. They have a lot of functions to hide your activities like the privacy-mode or to delete your tracks afterwards and they are not developed or published by one of the big companies like Apple, Microsoft or Google.
You have also the option to use a proxy. There is a large offer so you can be a bit choosy.
Here you can search for different proxys:
Hidemyass

Searching

At first there is a simple substitute for nearly all functions of your standard search-engine:
ixquick
It can search for sites, pictures, videos and phone-numbers.
BUT: It does not save your IP or anything and it summarizes the results of Bing, Google, Yahoo and lots of others.

Prologue

As a internetuser you surely have heard of Edward Snowden.
Especially in Europe there is a hugh tumult because of his disclosures about the activities of the secret services of the USA or Great Britain.
It came to my mind that you can try to hide some of your internetactivities in daily life by some simple measures and I wanted to help people who want to do this.
So I will post some links to useful programs or sites that may help you or that do not belong to those big global players who let the NSA spy their userdata.
Feel free to send me sites that you use or found.
